Job Purpose:
The Lift Installer is responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-quality installation of passenger and goods lifts/elevators in accordance with technical drawings, manufacturer guidelines, and safety regulations. The role requires a high level of technical skill, attention to detail, and adherence to health and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read, interpret, and work from technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Install lift components, including guide rails, motors, control panels, wiring, doors, and safety systems.
- Carry out mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic work as required.
- Test and adjust lift systems to ensure proper operation and compliance with regulations.
- Work collaboratively with other trades and contractors on-site to coordinate installation activities.
- Maintain accurate records of work carried out, materials used, and any changes to plans.
- Follow strict health and safety protocols, using PPE and safety equipment at all times.
- Identify and report any issues, hazards, or defects promptly to the supervisor.
- Provide customer handover and basic operational guidance after installation.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Technical qualification in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering discipline (NVQ, diploma, or equivalent).
- Previous experience in lift/elevator installation preferred.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Physically fit and able to work at heights or in confined spaces.
- Valid driving licence (preferred).
Working Conditions:
- Work is primarily carried out on construction sites or in existing buildings.
- May require working at heights, in shafts, or in tight spaces.
- Must adhere to strict health and safety standards at all times.
