Lift Installer

Job Purpose:

The Lift Installer is responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-quality installation of passenger and goods lifts/elevators in accordance with technical drawings, manufacturer guidelines, and safety regulations. The role requires a high level of technical skill, attention to detail, and adherence to health and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read, interpret, and work from technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Install lift components, including guide rails, motors, control panels, wiring, doors, and safety systems.
  • Carry out mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic work as required.
  • Test and adjust lift systems to ensure proper operation and compliance with regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with other trades and contractors on-site to coordinate installation activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of work carried out, materials used, and any changes to plans.
  • Follow strict health and safety protocols, using PPE and safety equipment at all times.
  • Identify and report any issues, hazards, or defects promptly to the supervisor.
  • Provide customer handover and basic operational guidance after installation.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Technical qualification in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering discipline (NVQ, diploma, or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in lift/elevator installation preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Physically fit and able to work at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Valid driving licence (preferred).

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily carried out on construction sites or in existing buildings.
  • May require working at heights, in shafts, or in tight spaces.
  • Must adhere to strict health and safety standards at all times.
