Factory Floor Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Supervisor is tasked with managing the daily operations within the factory, primarily focusing on the fabrication of HVAC and ventilation components. This role requires ensuring complete alignment among project specifications, site measurements, manufacturing processes, and installation activities, which predominantly involve ductwork and cladding.

Based on project requirements, ductwork and cladding may be manufactured using galvanised sheet metal, Polyurethane, or Phenolic Pre-Insulated Sandwich Panels. the Supervisor must possess comprehensive expertise across all relevant systems.

Additionally, the Supervisor is responsible for overseeing ancillary factory operations and providing support to various building services projects undertaken by Panta. these responsibilities may extend to the production of supports, brackets, and other bespoke accessories as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Manufacturing and Production Oversight

  • Oversee and actively participate in the manufacturing of ductwork using various materials. This includes working with galvanised sheet metal for standard HVAC ducting and cladding, as well as utilising polyurethane and/or phenolic (pre-insulated) systems according to project specifications.
  • Supervise and take part in loading and unloading operations, which also involves driving a fork lifter as required to support factory operations.
  • Operate and oversee the use of factory machinery, including but not limited to guillotines, hydraulic presses, bending machines, and welding sets, ensuring all equipment is used safely and effectively.
  • Perform spray painting on components such as ventilation grilles and related items, maintaining quality and finish in line with project requirements.
  • Ensure that all manufacturing processes and outputs comply with established quality, safety and fabrication standards.

Site Coordination and Quality Assurance

  • Conduct site inspections for HVAC and ventilation ductwork installations to verify that work meets required standards and project plans.
  • Take accurate on-site measurements and assess technical and project requirements to ensure seamless integration between manufacturing and installation phases.
  • Interpret drawings and specifications, translating them into actionable fabrication plans and developments suitable for the factory environment.
  • Coordinate between factory and site teams to guarantee accuracy, efficiency, and timely delivery of all manufactured components.
  • Revisit sites as necessary to verify installation quality and confirm that all work complies with the relevant specifications and standards.

Management Responsibilties

  • Assume responsibility for day-to-day factory management in the absence of the Project Coordinator, ensuring continuous oversight and operational continuity.

Discipline & Safety

  • Strictly follow all safety regulations and guidelines while performing duties within the factory and on-site locations. This ensures a safe working environment for all personnel and minimizes the risk of accidents or injuries.
  • Enforce a zero-tolerance policy for any abusive, harassing, or discriminatory behaviour in the workplace. Incidents or concerns must be escalated promptly to maintain a respectful, professional, and inclusive environment for every team member.

Reporting Structure/Accountability

  • The Factory Floor Supervisor reports directly to the Project Coordinator, who is responsible for overseeing factory operations.
  • In the absence of the Project Coordinator, the Factory Floor Supervisor reports to the Contracts Owner and Senior Project Manager, with further escalation to the Chief Operations Officer as required.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Demonstrated experience in the fabrication and installation of HVAC and ventilation ductowork.
  • Strong understanding of galvanised sheet metal and polyurethane/phenolic duct systems.
  • Experience in cladding fabrication and installation.
  • Hands-on expertise with ductwork and cladding fabrication machinery and tools, covering  multiple disciplines.
  • Basic welding abilities
  • Proven experience in spray painting.
  • Capacity to operate effectively in both factory and site environments.
