Sterling Chemical new factory

Sterling Chemical Malta Limited, the Maltese branch of S.N.I.F.F. Italia S.p.A. group, is an international leader specialising in oncology active ingredients which are destined primarily for export to US, EU, Indian and Japanese markets. Spurred on by several years of growth and success, in 2018 the company decided to expand its operations in Malta, by investing in new laboratories and production facilities.

About the project

Panta was selected to carry out the mechanical, electrical, ELV and HVAC installations of the new 14,000 m2 facility, which included the following systems and services:

- Main electrical switchgear, sub-panels and distribution boards

- Main electrical infrastructure

- Small lighting and power installations

- Domestic hot and cold-water installations

- Data installations

- Air-conditioning systems

- Supply and extract ventilation systems

- Firefighting dry riser and sprinkler system

- Fire alarm and detection systems

- Access control systems

- CCTV systems

- Security systems

- Intercom systems

Due to the flammable nature of the chemicals and substances used during Sterling’s production processes, many of the electrical and ELV installations within the production areas were designed and installed as explosion-proof and able to meet a minimum Atex zone 1 rating. Panta successfully completed the works in 2020, both meeting and exceeding Sterling’s project specifications and expectations.
