Sales & Design Engineer (Mechanical Engineering)

Job Summary:

Sell all services and products offered by the organisation, with a strong focus on Air Conditioning, HVAC, and Alternative Energy systems, while applying mechanical engineering principles to design efficient and compliant solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Handle new clients and enquiries, providing technically sound guidance based on mechanical engineering principles
  • Size and propose the correct systems for clients, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and performance
  • Design potential projects including HVAC, heat pump, ventilation, and underfloor heating systems using engineering calculations and best practices
  • Prepare technical submissions and participate in tendering processes, including specification review and cost estimation
  • Generate detailed and accurate technical quotations and proposals
  • Secure new business and maintain strong relationships with existing clients
  • Ensure high levels of client satisfaction through technical support and follow-up
  • Promote the brand image of the company through professionalism and technical expertise
  • Participate in internal and supplier-provided training related to mechanical systems and products

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all duties are carried out in alignment with company objectives and client interests
  • Maintain a lot of enquiries, quotations issued, and contracts signed on a weekly/monthly basis
  • Keep all technical documentation, supplier data sheets, and pricing structures updated to ensure accurate proposals
  • Apply mechanical engineering knowledge to evaluate system performance, feasibility, and cost-efficiency
  • Ensure the company’s professional image and technical credibility are maintained at all times
  • Ensure all tender submissions are completed accurately, on time, and in line with technical and commercial requirements
  • Coordinate with internal departments (engineering, procurement, installation teams) for smooth project execution
  • Follow up on orders, technical submissions, and project timelines, keeping clients informed throughout
  • Maintain and update the client database, ensuring accuracy of technical and commercial data
  • Prepare detailed reports following customer meetings, including technical assessments where required
  • Follow up quotations within a maximum of 48 hours; report delays to the Sales Manager
  • Ensure proper delegation of responsibilities when out of office
  • Perform any additional duties as required by management.

Requirements for the Role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience (preferred) in HVAC, air conditioning, building services, or mechanical systems design
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics
  • Ability to perform system sizing, load calculations, and technical design for HVAC and energy systems
  • Experience with design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar engineering tools) is an asset
  • Experience in tender preparation, BOQ analysis, and technical/commercial bid submissions is highly preferred
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to combine technical knowledge and sales skills
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents
  • Good organizational and time-management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quotation/CRM systems
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with attention to detail
