Junior Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to support the mechanical engineering team in the design, drafting, estimation, and documentation of mechanical building services systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection. The Junior Mechanical Engineer will assist in producing technical drawings, preparing material submittals, and performing quantity take-offs to ensure projects are delivered accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for mechanical building services systems based on design concepts provided by senior engineers
  • Revise drawings based on design updates or client feedback
  • Maintain organized drawing files and document control logs
  • Prepare coordination drawings for site execution in collaboration with other trades
  • Assist in the design and layout of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
  • Conduct basic load calculations and equipment sizing under supervision
  • Participate in value engineering exercises to optimize system performance and cost
  • Support in the preparation of cost estimates for mechanical systems based on design drawings and specifications
  • Review tender documents and assist in compiling estimation sheets and BOQs
  • Coordinate with the procurement team to support cost estimation and pricing
  • Perform detailed material and accurate quantity take-offs from drawings from tender and construction drawings
  • Update material lists as project designs evolve
  • Assist in compiling technical submittals for mechanical materials and equipment as per project specifications
  • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to gather necessary documentation and specifications
  • Support project engineers with technical queries from the site and subcontractors
  • Attend site coordination meetings and record action items related to mechanical works
  • Conduct site visits to verify installation progress and ensure adherence to design
  • Ensure all design and drafting work complies with relevant standards and regulations
  • Stay updated with new technologies and regulations relevant to building services
  • Collaborate with other sections such as electrical and civil for interdisciplinary coordination
  • Provide administrative and technical support to senior engineers and project managers
  • Participate in internal training and development programs to enhance technical skills
