Sales & Design Engineer (Electrical Engineering)

Job Summary:

Sell all services and products offered by the organisation, with a strong focus on electrical systems, Air Conditioning, and Alternative Energy solutions, while applying electrical engineering principles to design safe, efficient, and compliant systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Handle new clients and enquiries, providing technically sound advice based on electrical engineering principles
  • Size and propose the correct systems for clients, including electrical infrastructure, ensuring compliance with regulations and efficiency standards
  • Design potential projects including HVAC electrical systems, solar PV systems, energy storage solutions, and control systems
  • Prepare electrical load calculations, system layouts, and technical proposals
  • Generate accurate and detailed quotations, including electrical specifications and components
  • Secure new business and maintain strong relationships with existing clients
  • Ensure high levels of client satisfaction through technical support and follow-up
  • Promote the brand image of the company through professionalism and technical expertise
  • Participate in internal and supplier-provided training related to electrical systems and products

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all duties are carried out in alignment with company objectives and client requirements
  • Maintain a log of enquiries, quotations issued, and contracts signed on a weekly/monthly basis
  • Keep all electrical technical documentation, supplier data sheets, and pricing updated to ensure accurate proposals
  • Apply electrical engineering knowledge to ensure system safety, compliance (e.g., wiring regulations), and performance
  • Ensure the company’s professional image and technical credibility are maintained at all times
  • Ensure all tender submissions are technically compliant, commercially competitive, and submitted within deadlines
  • Coordinate with internal departments (engineering, procurement, installation teams) for smooth project execution
  • Follow up on orders, electrical submissions, and project timelines, keeping clients informed
  • Maintain and update the client database, ensuring all technical and commercial information is accurate
  • Prepare detailed reports following customer meetings, including technical evaluations where required
  • Follow up on quotations within a maximum of 48 hours; report delays to the Sales Manager
  • Ensure proper delegation of responsibilities when out of office
  • Perform any additional duties as required by management

Requirements for the Role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience (preferred) in electrical systems, building services, renewable energy, or similar industries
  • Strong knowledge of electrical design, power distribution, and protection systems
  • Familiarity with solar PV systems, inverters, and energy management systems is an asset
  • Ability to perform electrical load calculations, system sizing, and technical design
  • Knowledge of relevant electrical standards and regulations (e.g., IEC, local wiring regulations)
  • Experience with design software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar tools) is an advantage
  • Experience in tendering, bid preparation, and technical/commercial evaluation of projects is highly preferred
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to combine technical expertise and sales skills
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications
  • Good organizational and time-management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM/quotation systems
  • A proactive, detail-oriented, and solution-driven mindset
