Mechanical Technical Lead

Panta is looking for a Mechanical Technical Lead to join our team! Take the lead in delivering high-quality mechanical maintenance, installations, testing and commissioning across our projects.

Job Summary  

The Mechanical Technical Lead is responsible for providing advanced technical leadership and hands-on support to the mechanical services and maintenance team. The role focuses on planning, coordinating, and overseeing mechanical maintenance, installation, testing, commissioning, and preventive maintenance activities while ensuring compliance with quality, health, safety, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities 

Technical Support and Leadership 

  • Be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delegating mechanical maintenance, installation, testing, and commissioning works in line with operational requirements. 
  • Act as the primary technical reference point for the mechanical team during installation, commissioning, maintenance, fault-finding, and troubleshooting activities. 
  • Coordinate with other departments and disciplines to ensure smooth execution of projects and maintenance activities. 
  • Support and motivate team members to maintain high standards of performance, workmanship, and professionalism. 
  • Identify skill gaps and training needs within the mechanical team and propose development initiatives. 
  • Ensure team members have access to adequate tools, equipment, spares, and technical documentation. 

Testing and Commissioning 

  • Support testing and commissioning activities for mechanical systems, ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with approved specifications and procedures. 
  • Review mechanical drawings, method statements, and technical documentation to determine testing and commissioning requirements. 
  • Ensure all mechanical systems comply with applicable standards, company procedures, and quality requirements.. 

Quotations and Procurement 

  • Assist in preparing quotations for small mechanical projects, preventive maintenance contracts, and spare parts based on client and operational requirements. 
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations, technical data, and delivery schedules 
  • Contribute to pricing, cost analysis, and margin discussions in line with company policies. 

Business Planning and Operations 

  • Support resource planning, work scheduling, and manpower allocation for mechanical works. 
  • Contribute to budget forecasting and business planning activities aligned with company strategy and operational demands. 

Preventive Maintenance 

  • Coordinate and support preventive maintenance schedules with clients. 
  • Attend meetings with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure effective communication and technical alignment. 
  • Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of all preventive maintenance activities. 
  • Provide technical support during emergency callouts and certification processes. 

Health, Safety, and Compliance 

  • Ensure full adherence to all workplace Health and Safety standards at office, workshop, and client sites. 
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and implementation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS). 
  • Promote and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) standards across all projects. 
  • Enforce a zero-tolerance policy for any abusive, harassing, or discriminatory behavior in the workplace. Incidents or concerns must be escalated promptly to maintain a respectful, professional, and inclusive environment for every team member.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and legal requirements. 
  • Comply with all workplace health and safety rules, use personal protective equipment as required, and report any hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.

Working conditions 

  • The Mechanical Technical Lead will be based at the Head Office and will also be required to work on project and client sites as needed. Duties must be carried out in accordance with standard employment conditions and all site safety protocols. 

Reporting Structure / Accountability 

  • The Mechanical Technical Lead will report directly to the Head of Operations & Maintenance or to a designated person in their absence. 
  • The Mechanical Maintenance team will report to the Mechanical Technical Lead.

Qualifications, skills and experience 

  • Technical qualification or diploma/degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanic maintenance, testing, and commissioning roles. 
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a senior technical or lead role is preferred. 
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems such as HVAC, pumps, pipework, ventilation, rotating equipment, and associated plant. 
  • Ability to supervise and support complex mechanical installations, maintenance activities, and fault diagnosis. 
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance planning, equipment certification, and statutory inspections. 
  • Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. 
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
